Rockies down Mets, take Wild Card lead
Jorge De La Rosa had been baseball’s winningest pitcher for three months, but the first inning Tuesday night looked like a losing proposition.
He gave up three hits and a walk. At least four balls were smoked. He gave up two runs, and it would have been worse if not for a strange baserunning error by the Mets’ Angel Pagan.
Then the real De La Rosa arrived, halted the Rockies’ season-worst losing streak at five games and put the team back atop the National League Wild Card race with an 8-3 victory at Coors Field before 26,190.
